2007 Newsletter (and some 2008)

McGettigan News 2007
Ok, so we didn't get our Christmas letter out, so we decided to set up a blog, and let you read it if you really want to! So here's the news!
Glenn got a job title change - he is now the Business Solutions Director. Now he attends a lot of meetings - he says it's better than pushing numbers around all day! He's also very involved with the boys with their schooling. (See paragraph about boys) Glenn helps with their homework, makes sure they are ready for tests and has gone with them to several club activities, including driving them all the way to Montana for their Lego competition.

Jana had the opportunity to be in “A Christmas Carol” this year with Kara, which was a great experience to make some fun memories! Jana also received the 2007 Deseret Dramatic Award of Distinction from the LDS Church for her musical production “The Bread of Life”. (Excerpts of it was shown at the Assembly Hall on Temple Square February 8, 2008.)

Kristin and Dave still live in Buffalo, NY. Dave will be finishing up dental school in the next several months, then moving on to orthodontic school. He was accepted to a program right in Buffalo, so they’ll be staying there for the next 3 years. Kristin works for a liberal arts college helping with their fundraising.

Rebecca and Chad are keeping busy with their little ones, Tierra & Eli. Tierra turned 4 this year, and started preschool where she is learning a lot. She still loves princesses, and dresses up almost every day. Eli is 2½, and is the cutest little boy you ever saw! He is talking quite a bit, but hasn’t mastered all of his consonants yet so it’s a little hard to understand him. Chad is doing office work at the time, trying to make captain. He’d rather be in a station, but he says he’s learning quite a bit. Rebecca is still in the Primary Presidency, and has taken up running. She ran a 5K last year, and hopes to enter a 10K this year.

Scott is still working and attending the University of Utah. Scott still gives guitar lessons, and recorded his first album this year called, "One".

Brett has been working and going to school, but recently decided he wanted to serve a mission! We are very excited for him! He put in his papers the first Sunday of January, and receieved his call in just 10 days! He will be going to Milan, Italy, and will enter the MTC on April 30th. Go, Brett!

Tyler & Sam started in a charter school at the beginning of the school year. Tyler is in the 8th grade, taking ninth grade math. He has a TON of homework, and he's doing very well in some pretty demanding classes. Sam is in the 7th grade (he basically skipped a grade). Both are pretty much getting all A’s. They are both in some of the clubs at the school: chess, ping-pong, and their favorite – Lego League. In January they got to attend a Lego League competition where their team builds a Lego robot which has to complete tasks in a certain amount of time. They tied for 4th place out of 38 teams, and won top honors for their robot design. For their duet piano recital in November, Tyler and Sam played “Rhapsody in Blue” together. It was a pretty difficult piece to learn, but they did very well.
Kara is now 8, and growing like a weed! She is still our very enthusiastic girl, and loves to be around people. She has several friends she calls her “best friend”, and loves to have them over to play. For her birthday this year, she had a “Dr. Seuss” themed party, which was a blast! Kara had the opportunity to play Young Emma in a film that is coming out about Emma Smith. It was a great experience for her! Kara was in “A Christmas Carol” again this year, and loved every minute of it! She was also baptized in November, and told her mom, “Life is just better now that I’m 8!”

There ya go!
